Human rights agreements of the UN Torture Convention
Article 1 (1)
According to the purposes of this Convention, the term "torture" means any act by which a person intentionally is inflicted to suffer from whether physical or mental pain.
Article 4 (1)
Each State enclosed shall ensure that all acts of torture under its criminal law are considered as offenses.
Article 13 (1)
Each State enclosed shall ensure that anyone who claims to be tortured in a sovereign state territory has the right to appeal to the competent authority and to promptly and impartially examine his case in these authorities.
